(Colorado Newsline) Former Colorado state Rep. Dan Woog is running to regain his House seat next year.

The Erie Republican represented House District 63 for one term beginning in 2021. The state’s recent redistricting process put him in House District 19, and he lost that race to Democratic Rep. Jennifer Parenti by 3 points.

“I believe that House District 19 deserves a state government that protects the rights and freedoms of its constituency,” Woog said in a statement. “Over what feels like a few short years, we have seen drastic political changes in our district, state, and country.”

Woog sponsored four successful bills while in the House, including one for an alternative transportation income tax and one that prohibits governments from limiting someone’s energy use.

Woog was previously a town trustee in Erie from 2013 until 2020.

On his website, Woog indicates support for reducing condo development regulations, expanding school choice and hiring more law enforcement.

Parenti filed to run in the 2024 race in February. They are the only two candidates filed.

In her most recent campaign filing, Parenti reported about $5,000 in campaign funds. Woog reported having about $17,600.
