Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site Visitor and Education Center Reopens
The Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site Visitor and Education Center located in Eads has returned to normal operating hours.
The visitor center has been closed for most of the past two years due to COVID restrictions and staff shortages.
Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site Visitor Center
Located at 1301 Maine Street in Eads provides education and orientation materials and has a sales outlet for educational merchandise. On the second floor there is an exhibit space featuring images of people connected to the Sand Creek Massacre. Call 719 438-5916 for more information.

Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site Contact Station
The Contact Station is located 23 miles outside of Eads - eight miles north of the town of Chivington. Just east of Chivington on Highway 96, turn north on Chief Antelope Way and proceed to County Road W, then turn right (east) and proceed one mile to park entrance on the left (north) side of the road.
Interpretive ranger talks are offered during regular park hours at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Talks last approximately 30 to 40 minutes. For more details, contact park staff at 719-729-3003 Thursday through Monday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
