Semi rollover closes westbound Interstate 70 near Golden, traffic diverted to Highway 40

A fuel tanker rollover early Monday shut down westbound Interstate 70 near milepost 258 west of Golden in Jefferson County, with no estimated time for reopening.

Colorado State Patrol troopers responded at approximately 2:05 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a fuel tanker. The semi left the right side of the road and rolled onto its passenger side. The driver, a 27-year-old male from Denver, suffered no injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol Hazmat Unit responded to address a leak on the tanker. Westbound Interstate 70 remains closed, and traffic is being diverted to Highway 40.

The crash is under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol under case number 1A261565.
