Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across southeast Colorado counties Friday afternoon according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop over mountain areas through the middle of the day before spreading to the plains. Storms that do develop could produce one-inch hail and wind gusts to 50 miles per hour.

Showers are predicted to continue into Friday night, dropping between one-tenth and three-quarters of an inch of rain in the region. A southeast wind up to 20 mph is also expected before shifting to the northeast after midnight.

In northeast Colorado, showers and severe storms are also expected, with strong winds and severe hail later in the afternoon. Tornadoes are possible from Lincoln County to Phillips and Sedgwick counties in the northeast corner of the state, reaching into Nebraska.

Across eastern Colorado, temperatures will mainly be in the 70s, falling to the 40s overnight.
