Small Earthquake Reported Near Rangely

Another small earthquake has struck near Rangely in Rio Blanco county.

Friday’s quake, which was reported by the United States Geological Survey Monday, occurred at 7:30 p.m. and was centered two miles north of the town. It measured 2.1 on the Richter Scale at a depth of about three miles.

Earthquakes have been occurring regularly in the area since a series of quakes occurred in April, including a 2.8 quake in late October. Overall, ten quakes have been recorded over a seven-month period. The strongest, at 3.8, occurred April 22.
