Southeast area law enforcement agencies are investigating a suspicious death occurring in the town of La Junta September 16.

La Junta police officers were called to a home in the 2300 block of Carson Ave., just before 2:00 p.m., on a report of an unresponsive male.

Responding officers found Timothy L. Kirkpatrick, 51, unresponsive inside the home. Kirkpatrick was later pronounced dead.

The circumstances surrounding Kirkpatrick’s death are currently being investigated.

The La Junta Police Department is the lead on the case, and is being assisted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Otero County Sheriff’s Office and the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators indicate there is no threat to the public’s safety at this time.  Information will be released as it becomes available.
