Town of Eads June 21 Meeting Minutes

The Special Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 4:59 p.m. in the City Hall. 

Mayor – Joe D. Shields- present

Trustees – Present –Dennis Pearson, Terry Riley, Justin McLoud and Kathy McCracken

Absent- Larry Gifford

Town Clerk- Robin Fox –Absent

Assistant Clerk- Shealynn McCracken-Present

Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present

Audiences/Public Comment Period – No Audience or Public Comment Period

Old Business:

Fire District- The board discussed and looked over the service plan for the fire district, and the letter from the town attorney, Stan Kimble. The letter from the attorney addressed his thoughts on the service plan. Dennis Pearson moved to accept the Kiowa County Fire Protection District Service Plan, Justin McLoud seconded. The motion was a 2 to 1 vote in favor of the Fire District. Terry Riley abstained from the vote.

Bring Up Items

CIRSA- Mayor Shields asked the board if they would like to sign a renewal application for CIRSA to get quotes for the upcoming year. He also explained that the renewal contract was not a binding contract. Justin McLoud moved to sign a renewal application with CIRSA, Terry Riley seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Annexation- Mayor Shields let the board know that he did reach out to Prairie Pines, the USDA office, and the Cobblestone about annexing them into the town. He also mentioned that he has not heard back from the Cobblestone.

With nothing else to come before the board the meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
