May is a sensitive time for Colorado wildlife, as many species are nesting, birthing young, or emerging from hibernation, and trail users are urged to give animals space and resist the urge to intervene.

Bears, deer, elk, moose, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, and birds are now active on trails across Colorado. Touching or feeding wild animals can be dangerous and cause unintended harm. Wild animals are not pets, and members of the public are asked to respect wildlife and allow them to thrive in their natural environment.
