SPRING ACREAGE REPORTING
Hard to believe but that time is upon us once again and offices are gearing up for spring acreage reporting. Nearly every FSA Office in the state is dealing with staffing issues due to the deferred resignation that many employees took advantage of earlier this year. Kiowa and Cheyenne counties are no exception; each office is not fully staffed. If you haven’t done so, call the Kiowa County office and ask if your maps are ready to be picked up. In Cheyenne County, if you haven’t received a call from the office to schedule an appointment, please call the office and schedule one.
July 15, 2025, is the deadline for acreage reporting and it’s going to take the cooperation of the producer, FSA staff and crop insurance agent to make the deadline.
REMINDER: Prevent plant claims must be filed with the county FSA office within 15 days of the final plant date of the commodity.
File a Notice of Loss for Failed and Prevented Planted Acres
USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds you to report prevented planted and failed acres in order to establish or retain FSA program eligibility for some programs.
FSA received a memo this week which stated the National Office is waiving the 15-day requirement for producers to request prevented planting credit. Producers now have until July 15th to file for prevented planting acreage credit with FSA. This DOES NOT pertain to crops covered by NAP or non-insured assistance program.
Additionally, if you have failed acres, you should also use form CCC-576, Notice of Loss, to report failed acres.
For losses on crops covered by the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP), you must file a Notice of Loss within 15 days of the occurrence of the disaster or when losses become apparent.
