FALL ACREAGE REPORTING DEADLINE
Friday, November 15, 2024, is fast approaching and operators who have planted fall seeded crops for 2025 harvest, such as wheat, rye or triticale must have either filed a signed acreage report or called the FSA and scheduled an appointment by November 15th. Operators can file an acreage report by completing the required information needed on the aerial photos of the farm. Failure to complete an acreage report by the November 15th deadline can result in the operator facing late-file charges of $46.00 per farm.
In Kiowa County, producers are not required to call the office and schedule an appointment Monday through Thursday. However, on Friday’s the office is short staffed, and we ask producers to plan accordingly to complete FSA actions Monday through Thursday.
2022 ELRP PAYMENTS ISSUED
Livestock producers may have noticed they received a payment last week and are wondering what program the payment was for. Back in 2022, livestock producers who applied for 2022 Livestock Forage Program or LFP were automatically eligible for 2022 ELRP or Emergency Livestock Relief Program. The initial payments were issued in September 2023, last week producers received an additional payment due to the fact the original payment was factored due to availability of funding. There were additional funds remaining and therefore a supplemental payment was issued.
NAP DEADLINE - DECEMBER 2, 2024
Monday, December 2, 2024, is the deadline for producers to purchase an application for coverage on a CCC-471 form on grass with the intended use of grazing for crop year 2025. The cost is $325.00 per producer, unless the producer has filed a CCC-860, Socially Disadvantaged, Limited Resource and Beginning Farms or Rancher Certification. Producers with a CCC-860 on file are automatically eligible for basic 50/55 NAP coverage on eligible crops.
For information regarding NAP coverage call the FSA office or visit www.Farmers.gov.
