Canyons & Plains of Southeast Colorado will hold its regional meeting at 232 Main Street in Ordway Colorado.(Opera House) on Thursday, August 11th in Crowley County. The presentation will be a photo presentation of some of the summer activities and events that were held in Crowley County. Jerry Davis will give us a briefing on the upcoming Pedal the Plains

Fishing is fair to good for channel catfish, bullheads, and carp. The lake is lowering for irrigation, but the lake is still fairly high. Both high water boat ramps are usable. The low-water boat ramps are still submerged.
Arkansas River Headwaters
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for shooting and killing cattle north of Hugo.
In a social media post, the office states, “If you know something, say something. It is time to evaluate your loyalty to this [criminal].”

Summer is slowing down and coming to a close, which means that in just a few short weeks Lamar Community College will begin its fall semester. Registration is well underway and most courses will begin the week of August 22.
Current LCC students should set up a meeting with their advisor to plan their next semester and make sure they are on track. Any new students interested in registering for classes are encouraged to call 719-336-1590 to set up a meeting with an admissions counselor.

In this time of great change and uncertainty, crisis situations seem to be growing at a rapid speed. The emotional turmoil and negative behavior that is on the rise, spanning from verbal abuse to physical assault, is requiring schools and agencies to intervene more often for the safety and protection of the students, staff and clients. Schools and agencies have a responsibility to train their staff to safely and effectively deal with reasonably foreseeable situations.

Lots of people from our area took advantage of the opportunities they had to enjoy the County Fairs in Prowers, Cheyenne or Greeley Counties this past week. Our grandson Kyle and I went to Tribune Saturday evening for the Ice Cream Social and parade. Well, it rained on our parade - sheets of rain for about an hour. They received around 2". We had 6 tenths in Towner and it was certainly welcome.
Each month, the Colorado Department of Agriculture features a different product to highlight the variety and quality of products grown, raised or processed in the state. This month features Colorado produce in the Braised Colorado Cabbage recipe.
