The National Weather Service in Pueblo provides SKYWARN weather spotter preparedness and training for citizens and emergency responders each spring as the severe weather season approaches.
A session for Kiowa County residents will be held Wednesday, April 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Kiowa County Courthouse, located at 1305 Goff Street in Eads. The class is a cooperative effort of local government officials and the National Weather Service. The session is free of charge and open to everyone.

Southeast Colorado benefitted from a mix of rain and snow Friday, accompanied by areas of dense fog that will continue Saturday ahead of a brief warm up. Unfortunately, amounts of rain and snow have fallen toward the low end of expectations across southeast Colorado overnight.

Governor John Hickenlooper has appointed U.S. Air Force Major General Michael A. Loh as Colorado’s new Adjutant General. Loh replaces Adjutant General U.S. Air Force Major General H. Michael Edwards who is retiring. In this capacity, Loh also serves as the Executive Director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
The Kiowa County Hospital District and County Board met in regular session on February 28, 2017 at 6:32 p.m. at the Bank Meeting Room.
District Board members present were: Robert Woods, Mary Eikner, Sylvia Shields, Priscilla Waggoner and Cathryn Anderson.
County Board members present were: Kim Harris, Craig Kerfoot, John Negley and Dennis Pearson. Absent: Lori Shalberg
