If you ever wanted to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow, your chance is coming as Colorado Parks and Wildlife hosts a free archery session.

CPW officers will provide the equipment and expertise at the session scheduled 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17.  The session will be held at the agency work station in Buena Vista, at the corner of U.S. Highway 24 and DePaul Street.

A flash flood watch returns to southeast Colorado Sunday, covering an area similar to Saturday’s watch due to continued storms fueled by a strong annual monsoon moisture flow.

“You don’t mean it!”

“Sure as I’m sittin’ here, Doc,” Herb said, putting an extra swirl to his coffee and cream.

“Flying lessons?”

“Yessir. Said he wanted to do it before he got old. I know. I know. He’s already old, but still, he’s up about every weekend now, buzzing around.”

“That’s just nuts,” Doc said, “I know for a fact he won’t see 70 again.”

“True enough, Doc, but you know they aren’t letting him take the plane up by himself.”

“Thank goodness for that. But what in the world made him want to fly a plane?”

• Hi-Plains Thirteen year old All Stars are the State Baseball Champions. Team members included Demetrius Gilmore, Kenan Gooden, Jacob Buck, Matt Seay and Josh Crow-Eads; Jade Downey, Justin Horn and Mike Gurule – McClave; Ty Trahern, Andrew Maxcy and Curt Connelley of Kit Carson. Coaches were Pat Ward, Bill Connelley and Lane Gooden.
