Dry, Hot Weekend Ahead!

Although the official start of summer is over a week away, this weekend’s temperatures – well above average - will make it feel like the season has already arrived.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s Friday across most of eastern Colorado. Pueblo and La Junta could see a few degrees above that.

Movie Review - Wonder Woman

It was a poorly-kept secret that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) was going to be a part of last year’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” That didn’t stop her from getting a huge reaction when she finally appeared. It wasn’t even that the movie used her well, people just loved “that moment when Wonder Woman showed up.” Demand for Wonder Woman was high, as if people already knew she had more to offer than the current incarnations of Batman or Superman. That demand was well-founded, because Wonder Woman’s story is easily the best of the widely-disliked DC Extended Universe.

Ag Department Updates Farmers’ Market Directory

As grass is greening and days are getting warmer, farmers’ markets are popping up across the state.  The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s 33rd annual Colorado Farm Fresh Directory helps consumers find farmers’ markets, roadside stands, u-picks, wineries and agritourism activities.

“If you are looking for local foods, Farm Fresh is the perfect guide,” said Wendy White, marketing specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. “We hope the publication helps connect consumers with local producers.”

Brand Assessments Due June 30

Livestock brands are vital to protecting Colorado’s livestock industry and are an important part of the state’s history and culture.  The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Brand Inspection Division reminds brand owners that the brand assessment payment must be received in the Brand Office by 5p.m. on June 30, 2017, to avoid payment of a $25 late fee.  A timely postmark will not suffice; payment must be physically received in the office by 5p.m. on June 30, 2017.
