Ag stats: Kansas crop progress and condition report – week ending October 10, 2021
For the week ending October 10, 2021, there were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 14% very short, 28% short, 51% adequate, and 7% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 36% short, 49% adequate, and 2% surplus.
Field Crops Report
Winter wheat planted was 63%, behind 71% last year, but ahead of 55% for the five-year average. Emerged was 31%, behind 47% last year, and near 33% average.
Corn mature was 98%, near 95% last year, and ahead of 93% average. Harvested was 66%, ahead of 60% last year and 55% average.
Soybean condition rated 6% very poor, 9% poor, 31% fair, 46% good, and 8% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 84%, behind 90% last year, but near 82% average. Harvested was 27%, behind 37% last year, but ahead of 21% average.
Sorghum condition rated 4% very poor, 11% poor, 31% fair, 45% good, and 9% excellent. Sorghum mature was 81%, behind 86% last year, but ahead of 74% average. Harvested was 32%, near 28% last year, and ahead of 20% average.
Cotton condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 39% fair, 50% good, and 3% excellent. Cotton bolls opening was 83%, ahead of 77% last year and 72% average. Harvested was 2%, equal to last year, and near 3% average.
Sunflowers harvested was 27%, ahead of 19% last year and 12% average.
