Another active day - Kiowa County weather forecast – June 3, 2019
Another active weather day is on tap across Kiowa County, a trend expected to continue through much of the week.
Monday’s high temperatures are predicted rise another five degrees over Sunday to the upper 80s, potentially hitting 90 in far western Kiowa County before thunderstorms – some possibly severe – build in the afternoon.
There is a 20-40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms later today, though less than 0.1 inch of rain is expected. Areas impacted by thunderstorms could see higher amounts. The storms could produce hail up to half-dollar size along with 60 mile per hour wind gusts. Potential for tornadoes along the Colorado borders with Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma will also return.
Overnight lows will settle back to the mid-50s as chances for storms continue.

Elsewhere in Colorado, the spring warmup continues to bring increased potential for mountain snowmelt runoff. Warmer days, along with nights remaining above the freezing mark, can cause river and steam levels to increase rapidly, and may cause flooding in some areas over the next few days. A flood advisory has been issued for the Gunnison River above Grand Junction that is expected to continue through the week. An advisory is also in effect through Monday morning for the Conejos River in southeast Conejos County.
