Thanks to all our loyal readers, KiowaCountyPress.net has set another monthly readership record with 4,623 readers in August.

Since taking the risk in January this year in switching to free online delivery from paid subscriptions, readership has reached levels never before achieved in our 129-year history as your local source for news, information and entertainment.

Our initial goal was modest- retaining half of the 700 or so regular readers from the mailed print edition. In the first month, we reached over 800 unique visitors. By April, visitors reached nearly 2,700 – nearly double the county’s 1,402 residents. Though tiny in comparison to major publications, the number was stunning for us – and we had few expectations that it could continue.

With a tragic plane crash in May that claimed the life of the pilot, readership jumped to over 4,000 for the month.

Although the Kiowa County Press continues to regularly add features for our readers, we expected June readership to return to the 2,000-2,500 range. Instead, it stayed above 3,500, and increased by several hundred from there in July.

We are pleased to have found an audience that appreciates the mix of news and information we strive to bring you each day. We will continue to enhance our coverage of the area and state to meet your needs and interests.
