The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Rocky Ford Police Department with a death investigation following a reported shooting early Friday in Rocky Ford.

Police were dispatched at approximately 2:44 a.m. to a home in the 500 block of North 5th Street on a report of a shooting, according to authorities.

Responding officers found a 46-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound. Resuscitation efforts were attempted but were unsuccessful.

A 42-year-old woman was also found inside the residence with serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Investigators said the incident is suspected to be related to domestic violence.

The Rocky Ford Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the case. Authorities said no additional details are being released at this time.
