Cooler, rain possible Saturday - Kiowa County weather forecast for June 15, 2019

Saturday’s high temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler than Friday’s mid- to upper 90s, with rain possible across Kiowa County.

The day will start off sunny, with wind out of the northwest which is expected to shift to the northeast later in the day. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s before falling to the mid-50s overnight.

The chance for showers and thunderstorms reaches 50 percent this afternoon, mainly after 3:00 p.m. for Kiowa County. The possibility increases slightly during the early evening hours. While less than one-tenth inch of rain is expected for most areas, higher amounts are possible where thunderstorms form. Most storms will stay below the severe level but will be more widespread than Friday afternoon’s activity.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms continues through Tuesday evening, with the greatest potential coming Monday evening.

Currently, KiowaCountyPress.net Live Weather from downtown Eads shows [weather:currwinddir] wind at [weather:currwindspeed] mph. Thursday, winds were gusting to 28 mph between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.. Elsewhere in Colorado, heavy rain could cause flash flooding from recent burn scars in Pueblo and Huerfano counties. The National Weather Service will have a flash flood watch in effect for the area from 2:00 to 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

Flood potential from mountain snowmelt continues in the south central mountains and the southwest part of the state. Streams and rivers are running high and could be dangerous. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has closed a portion of the Arkansas river below Pueblo Reservoir due to high water.
