Crash Friday near Walsenburg kills one
A crash early Friday morning on Interstate 25 near Walsenburg claimed the life of one person while seriously injuring another.
According to Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper David Conway, a vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway when the driver swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. The vehicle went off the road and rolled, coming to a stop in the northbound lanes.
A 60-year-old woman from Rye was killed in the crash, while a 63-year-old man, also from Rye, was seriously injured.
The crash and subsequent investigation resulted in Interstate 25 being closed for more than three hours.
Speed, drugs, and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
