Dawn James appointed to the Kiowa County Court
Wednesday, pursuant to her authority as acting Governor under the Colorado Constitution, Article IV, § 13, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera appointed Sabrina Dawn James to the Kiowa County Court in the 15th Judicial District. The vacancy is occasioned by the resignation of the Honorable Pamela E. Johnston and is effective immediately.

James is a teacher at Eads High School and an Adjunct Professor at Lamar Community College, positions she has held since 2008.
Previously, she was a teacher at Karval School District (2003-2008); Adjunct Instructor at Lamar Community College (2002-2003); and Interim teacher at Rocky Ford High School (2002).
James said of her appointment, "I am excited about this new opportunity, especially since I can continue to teach full-time.
I have arranged with my administration to be able to get a sub to cover during the days I have court."
In 2024 Dawn was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Eads Chamber of Commerce
James earned her B.A. and M.A. from Colorado State University Pueblo in 2002 and 2012, respectively.
Colorado’s 15th Judicial District includes Cheyenne, Kiowa, Prowers and Baca Counties.
