Eads Board of Trustees meeting minutes - February 8, 2022

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Monday February 8, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. Robin Fox took roll call:

  • Mayor – Joe D. Shields- Present
  • Trustees – Present –Kathy McCracken, Justin McLoud, Stephanie Sewell
  • Absent – Dennis Pearson
  • Town Clerk- Robin Fox 
  • Assistant Clerk- Mikahael McCracken
  • Director of Public Works- Van Brown- Present
  • Town Attorney – Lance Clark – Absent

New Board Member- Tuck Liebl was sworn in as a new trustee, he will replace Terry Riley. This is a 4 year term.

Minutes­- Justin McLoud motioned to approve the January 11, 2022 minutes after changes are made. Stephanie Sewell seconded, motion passed unanimously. 

Election- The election was canceled. 

Approval of Bills – The finance committee reviewed the bills prior to the meeting. Kathy McCracken motioned to approve payment of the bills.  Justin McLoud seconded, motion passed unanimously.

New Business:

Betsy Barnett with CLCEC- Gave an update on a grant they were going to try and apply for. If the grant is approved they will begin work on the greenroom. They will be able to put more play type events on. Their plan is to eventually fix up the existing building known as the sister building. They hope to be able to put a sports bar type restaurant in that room. They would also like to rent out the sister building for different events. They are also going to try and have some money making projects to help fund this project. The total estimated cost is 1.3 Million dollars. Cindy McLoud, with the KCDEF, will be doing the grant writing for the project. Justin McLoud made a motion to apply for the grant application, Kathy McCracken seconded, motion passed unanimously.

Cindy McLoud with KCDEF, gave an update on a grant she is working on for sidewalks, curbs and gutters for Maine Street.

Bring Up Items – Justin McLoud asked about Van’s retirement and when would be a good time to start looking for his replacement. Justin wants to stay on top of this issue, and make sure we have plenty of time to get someone trained and ready to take over.
