Governor Polis Appoints Matthew G. Margeson to the Dolores County Court

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has appointed Matthew G. Margeson to the Dolores County Court in the 22nd Judicial District. The vacancy was created by the appointment of the Honorable Anthony Nathaniel Baca and is effective immediately.

Margeson is the elected District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District, a position he has held since 2021. His practice consists of criminal prosecution.

Previously, he was the Assistant District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District (2017-2021); Deputy District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District (2014-2017); and Partner at Margeson & Reed, LLC. (2007-2014). Mr. Margeson received his B.S. from The University of Michigan in 2004 and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2007. 

This appointment will create a vacancy in the Office of the District Attorney in the 22nd Judicial District. Next week, Governor Polis will announce a process for receiving and evaluating applications for that position and a timeline for appointing someone to that vacancy.

The 22nd Judicial District includes Dolores and Montezuma counties.
