Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office Arrests March 2017

In December 2016, Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a stolen debit card. Deputies investigated the matter and conducted an arrest warrant for Identity Theft (Felony), protection order violation (Misdemeanor) and domestic violence for Christopher Riley. On Thursday, March 4, 2017 Deputies were notified that Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office served the arrest warrant and took Riley into custody. Riley is currently out on bond.

March 3, 2017, at approximalety 0900 hours, Shawn O Babbitt was contacted in the Town of Eads by the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office for speeding. Babbitt was summonsed and released for driving on a suspended license due to no insurance. Babbitt failed to provide proof of insurance at the time of the stop. Babbitt was charged with 42–4-1101(1) SPEEDING 10 TO 19 MPH OVER PRIMA FACIE LIMIT, 42-2-138 (1)(a) DROVE MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE UNDER RESTRAINT (SUSPENDED) and 42-4-1409 (3) FAILE TO PRESENT EVIDENCE OF INSURANCE UPON REQUEST.(no photo available)
Sunday, March 5, 2017 Kiowa County Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle speeding above the posted speed limit. Upon further investigation, the driver, Marisela Avalos, had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies served Avalos a summons for driving under a suspended license, in violation of Colorado Revised Statute 42-2-138(1)(a) and speeding 10-19 over posted speed limit in violation of Colorado Revised Statute 42-4-1101(1).(no photo available)
Sunday, March 05, 2017, at approximately 0926 hours, a Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted a vehicle for speeding on Highway 287, 95 MPH in a posted 65 MPH Zone, at approximately mile marker 119. Deputies issued the driver, Rodriguez, Eric, a summons for his speed.(no photo available)
March 8, 2017, Deputies of the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant at 110 South Slater Street in Eads. Madeleine Snider was arrested for a protection order violation and transported to Prowers County Jail where she was held with out bond.

Friday, March 10, 2017, at approximately 1535 hours, a Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputy received a suspicious person call. The responding Deputy was informed the suspicious person was located just south of the Town of Eads Shop. Deputies contacted Madeleine Snider in the area. Deputies took Snider into custody for the protection order violation. Snider was transported and held at the Prowers County Jail, with a $750 bond.

Sunday, March 12, 2017 Kiowa County Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle speeding 94 mph in a 65 mph zone. The driver, Jordyn Michaud, was served with a summons for speeding in violation of Colorado Revised Statute 42-4-1101(1).(no photo available)
Thursday, March 16, 2017, at approximately 1709 hours, a Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted a vehicle for speeding on Highway 287, 99 MPH in a posted 65 MPH Zone, at approximately mile marker 106. Deputies issued the driver, Brandon Basaldua, a summons for his speed.(no photo available)
Friday, March 17, 2017 Kiowa County Deputies contacted a vehicle for speeding 81 mph in a posted 65. Upon further investigation, the driver, Christy Love, had a cancelled/denied driver’s license. Deputies issued Love a summons in violation of 42-4-1101(1) Speeding 81 mph in a posted 65 mph zone, and 42-2-138(1)(A) Drove Motor/off highway vehicle when license under restraint (denied).

Monday, March 20, 2017 Kiowa County Deputies responded to the 11000 block of county road 53 for a report of vehicle in the ditch with a possibly intoxicated driver. Upon further investigation, the driver, Leonard Shank, was taken into custody and transported to Prowers County Jail. Shank was charged with 42-4-1301(1)(a) Drove Vehicle while Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, and 452-4-1305(2)(a) (Drank from/possessed) an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a motor vehicle.

Thursday, March 30, 2017 Kiowa County Sheriff’s Deputies served an arrest warrant on Bobbi Jo Lord for Trespassing. Lord was transported and held at the Prowers County Jail on a $500.00 Bond.
