June 1, 2022

  • 10:08 AM-Traffic Stop-Hwy 287 South
    Sergeant Murdock issued a citation for speeding 80 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. 
  • 12:35 PM-Traffic Stop-Hwy 287 South
    Sergeant Murdock issued a citation for speeding 79 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone.
  • 2:30 PM-Animal Problem-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock and Deputy Negley responded to the 300 block of East 15th Street for a report of a lost dog. Deputies searched the area and were unable to find the dog. 
  • 4:30 PM-Dog at Large-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Negley issued a citation for a Dog at Large.
  • 7:20 PM-Warrant-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock and Deputy Negley witnessed Thomas Chase (02/26/1989) of Eads, CO who had warrants for dangerous drugs in the 900 block of Maine Street.  Deputies arrested Chase and transported him to Bent County Jail and held on a $2,000 bond.  
  • 8:20 PM-Search Warrant-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock, Deputy Negley and Deputy Snover responded to the 900 block of Maine Street in Eads for a search warrant. Deputies searched the house and found drugs, drug paraphernalia, identity documents that did not belong to the residents, as well as numerous other items of contraband.  Deputies wrote an arrest warrant for the drugs found. A juvenile was taken and placed into Emergency Custody of the Department of Social Services.

June 2, 2022

  • 5:37 PM-Livestock-East Highway 96
  • Deputy Negley got called out to Highway 96 at Mile Marker 172 for a report of cattle on the highway. Negley informed the cattle owner about a fence that was down and got the cattle back in the fence. 
  • 7:38 PM-Livestock-CR 49 & J
  • Sergeant Murdock was called out to CR 49 and CR J for a report of an injured horse that was abandoned.  Deputies had to euthanize the horse due to broken legs and no known owner.  Kiowa County Road & Bridge was notified to bury the animal. 
  • 8:30 PM-Vehicle Lockout-Hometown Gas & Grill
  • Sergeant Murdock was called out to Hometown Gas & Grill for a vehicle lockout.  Murdock unlocked the semi truck and cleared the scene. 

June 3, 2022

  • 8:10 AM-Traffic Accident-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was called to the 700 block of Maine Street in Eads for a report of a hit and run.  Deputies did not see any other vehicle debris, and after searching the area for other vehicles damaged were unable to locate. 
  • 10:15 AM-Suspicious Person-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was dispatched to the 1300 block of Luther for a report of a suspicious person.   Murdock spoke to the individual and he was sitting in the bushes across the street from the hospital to smoke a cigarette.  
  • 11:30 AM-Animal Attack-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was dispatched to 1006 Luther Street for a report of a dog attack.  Owner had records for both dogs.  Murdock took statements, but the individual did not want to press charges. 

June 5, 2022

  • 03:15 AM-Agency Assist-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was called out in the 48000 block of County Road Y for an agency assist on a fire alarm. Murdock did not see active flames and had to stand by with fire until a key holder arrived on scene.   
  • 1:45 PM-Motorist Assist -Haswell, CO 
  • Deputy Snover responded to County Road 19 near the Bent County line for a motorist assist, upon arrival deputies assisted the driver to get help on the way.

June 6, 2022

  • 12:55 PM-Motorist Assist-Galatea, CO
  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to Highway 96 in Galatea for a suspicious party.  Deputies stood by until Triple A arrived on scene.
  • 2:45 PM-Domestic Problem-Eads, CO
  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to the 1000 block of Wansted for a report of a domestic situation.  Swanson investigated and deemed the issue to be civil.
  • 10:30 PM-Missing Person-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Snover responded to the 600 block of Wansted Street for a missing persons report, upon investigation, the supposed missing person was contacted shortly after.

June 7, 2022

  • 10:14 AM-Warrant-Eads, CO
  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to 1100 block Goff Street for an unwanted party. Swanson arrested Cara Dake (DOB 03/15/1994) for felony failure to comply. Swanson arrested the female party and transported her to Bent County Jail with no bond.

June 8, 2022

  • 7:00 AM-Animal Problem-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Snover responded to Highway 287 near County Road P for dogs at large, upon arrival deputies were unable to locate anything and cleared.
  • 12:54 PM-Theft-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Negley responded to the 100 Block of South Rittgers in Eads for a report of Theft. Negley took an initial statement from the victim. Negley cleared the scene.
  • 4:24 PM-Warrant-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Snover arrested a female party for a warrant in the 600 block of East 15th Street. Snover arrested Shonie Mayo (DOB 04/06/1966) on a felony parole violation and transported the female to the Bent County Jail who was held on no bond.
  • 7:34 PM-Agency Assist-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Snover assisted Kiowa County Fire Protection District with a structure fire in the East 500 block of 11th Street. Upon arrival the fire was put out and deemed an accidental start.

June 9, 2022

  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to Highway 287 at mile marker 99 for a motorist assist. Swanson was unable to find the vehicle.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 96 at Mile Marker 198 for a report of a single vehicle vs. deer crash. Negley assisted Colorado State Patrol with the crash. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 287 at Mile Marker 121 for a report of a man lying in the ditch. Negley did a welfare check and the party said he was just lying there to rest. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Sergeant Murdock responded to Highway 287 at Mile Marker 121 for a report of a man lying in the ditch. Deputies tried to assist the male, but he declined help.

  • Deputy Negley was called out to Highway 96 at Mile Marker 180 to help with traffic control while the reporting party moved cattle across the highway. Negley shut down traffic and cleared the scene.

  • Sergeant Murdock was called to the 1200 block of Goff Street for a vehicle parked in the reporting party's driveway.  Murdock recognized the vehicle as the neighbors and requested they move it before clearing the scene.

  • Deputy Snover responded to County Road 35, South of Highway 96 for a brush fire. Upon arrival the situation was monitored until fire units arrived.

  • Deputy Snover conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Maine Street in Eads. Upon the stop, Snover issued a citation to the driver.

  • Deputy Negley was called out to Highway 287 Mile Marker 115 for a report of an elderly man in the highway about to get hit by a car. Negley gave the party a courtesy ride to Kit Carson and cleared the scene.
  • 7:21 PM-Suspicious Activity-Sheridan Lake, CO
  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to Sheridan Lake Church for a cyclist that had a dog in the church, and the church wanted them removed. Swanson found out the dog was a service animal and could not remove the parties.

  • 5:53 AM-Traffic Problem-Eads, CO
  • Undersheriff Swanson responded to Highway 287 at approximately mile marker 117 for a possible DUI driver. Swanson was unable to locate the vehicle.

  • Sergeant Murdock was dispatched to the 700 block of Luther for a dog at large.  The dog was already inside by the time Murdock arrived.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Sheridan Lake to assist the Fire Department with a Semi on fire. Negley helped put the fire out and cleared the scene.

  • Kiowa County Deputies conducted a urinalysis for an individual.

  • Sergeant Murdock made a traffic stop and issued a warning.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 287 Mile Marker 117 for a vehicle that appeared to be abandoned with the trunk open. Negley inventoried the vehicle and towed it. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley responded to the 9000 Block of County Road 47 for corrals on fire. Negley discovered it was a controlled burn the Sheriff's Office was not notified of. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley was called out to a dangerous driver failing to maintain speed or lane. Negley talked to the driver and he said he was tired and stopping to take a break. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 287 Mile Marker 114 for a report of calves in the highway. Negley and the cattle owner were able to get the calves back in the fence. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Sergeant Murdock and Deputy Negley responded to the North Shore on Blue Lake for a report of a sunken boat and two stranded parties. Deputies assisted Bent County and Wildlife Officers to help the parties with their boat. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Kiowa County Deputies conducted urinalysis for an individual.

  • Deputy Negley responded to the 600 block of Wansted Street in Eads for a report of a semi lockout. Negley unlocked the vehicle for the driver. Negley cleared the scene.
  • 9:00 PM-Traffic Problem-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 287 at approximately Mile Marker 100 for a report of a dangerous driver. Negley was unable to locate due to a lack of description on the semi. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Sergeant Murdock served civil process papers to the 900 block of Maine Street in Eads and then cleared the scene.
  • 4:19 PM-Suspicious Vehicle-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was dispatched to the 1100 block of Hickman for a report of a suspicious vehicle.  Murdock identified the vehicle as a cable installer, and spoke to the reporting party before clearing the scene.

    Sergeant Murdock served civil process papers to the 41000 block of Highway 287 outside of Eads and then cleared the scene.
  • 7:58 PM-Process Service-Sheridan Lake, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock served civil process papers to the 600 block of Burnette Street in Sheridan Lake and then cleared the scene.
  • 9:51 PM-DUI-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock witnessed a semi run off the road on Highway 96 mile marker 174.  After observing the driver failing to maintain his lane, Murdock executed a traffic stop and noted signs of impairment.  After failing roadsides, Murdock arrested the driver, Napoleon Glenn for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, transported him to Bent County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.

  • Deputy Negley was called out to the 600 block of Wansted Street in Eads for a report of a party bothering people and appeared to be having a mental crisis. Negley was able to calm the party down and gave him a courtesy ride to Cheyenne County. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley made a traffic stop and issued a citation for 74 MPH in a 50 MPH zone.

  • Deputy Snover made a traffic stop and issued a citation for driving vehicle when license under restraint, and vehicle defective/missing tail lamps.

June 29, 2022  

  • 11:55 AM-Controlled Substance-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Snover assisted the Colorado Parole Office with a residence check. Upon investigation Troy Smith (DOB 04/04/1992) for Unlawful Possession of a controlled substance.  Smith was transported to Bent County Jail on charges and held with no bond.

  • Kiowa County Deputies conducted urinalysis for an individual. 
  • 3:51 PM-Public Service-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Negley while on routine patrol stopped to assist a semi that was partially blocking the highway. Negley stayed on scene until the semi was able to move again. Negley cleared.

  • Deputy Negley responded to Highway 287 and Maine Street in Eads for a report of a broken-down vehicle. Negley made sure they had a tow truck and a ride home. Negley cleared the scene.

  • Deputy Negley was called out to a single vehicle vs. cow crash on County Road 49 at County Road C. Negley investigated the crash and cleared the scene. Counter reported to CSP.

June 30, 2022  

  • 7:29 AM-Animal Problem-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock was called out for cattle out on CR 49.  Deputies were UTL, however found a down fence in the area. The cattle owner was contacted, and Murdock cleared the scene.
  • 11:31 AM-Animal Calls-Eads, CO
  • Deputy Negley responded to the 200 block of East Lowell Street in Eads for a report of animal cruelty. Negley issued a warning to fix the issue. Negley followed up the next day and the issue was fixed. Negley cleared the scene.
  • 3:01 PM-Urinalysis-Eads, CO
  • Kiowa County Deputies conducted urinalysis for an individual. 
  • 8:14 PM-Agency Assist-Towner, CO
  • Deputy Negley responded to the 3000 block of County Road 76 for a report of a brush fire caused by lightning strike. Negley assisted fire and were unable to locate a fire. Negley cleared the scene.
  • 9:53 PM-Suspicious Vehicle-Eads, CO
  • Sergeant Murdock observed a vehicle parked suspiciously half on the road and half on the curb at the 900 block of Goff Street in Eads. Murdock recognized the vehicle as the property of a wanted suspect and knocked on the residence door.  Murdock was UTL the suspect and the owner did not want to tow the vehicle.
