Lamar Community College Hosting Open House for Prospective Students

Students seeking the next step in their education should plan to attend the Lamar Community College open house set for Thursday, April 12.

The open house will take place in the Betz Technology Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; it will serve as a one-stop shop for information about the college from academics to campus life and more.  As an added bonus, there will be free food, door prizes, and attendees could win a $250 scholarship.

At the open house, students will be able to explore their academic options at LCC, from hands-on career-oriented programs to degrees designed specifically to transfer seamlessly to a university.  Faculty members from each department will be on-hand, so students can get to know them and ask any questions they may have.

LCC Student Services staff can help students learn all about the admissions process and how financial aid can help offset the cost of attendance.  Students can also explore available scholarships.

Campus tours will be offered throughout the evening, giving attendees the opportunity to see what life would be like while they attend LCC.

Open house attendees can also learn about two specific programs: LCC’s summer Three for Two scholarship program and concurrent enrollment.

Through LCC’s Three for Two scholarship, students enrolling in any nine or more credits this summer will receive a tuition-only scholarship for up to $433.65, which is equal to three resident on-campus credits.  Some exceptions may apply, so individuals interested in taking advantage of the scholarship are encouraged to come to the open house and learn more.

Students and parents interested in learning how high school students can earn college credit in high school can also learn about LCC’s concurrent enrollment program at the open house.  Qualifying students at high schools within LCC’s service area can start taking concurrent enrollment courses their sophomore year, saving them money and giving them a head start on their college degrees.

Anyone who visits the open house will be entered into a drawing for a $250 scholarship to Lamar Community College.  Two lucky attendees will win.
