The City of Lamar is excited to announce that it has installed an additional fishing dock at North Gateway Park. The dock and ramp are wheelchair-accessible and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant, providing recreational access for all residents and visitors including those with mobility challenges. The new ADA fishing dock is located on the north side of Pond #2.

The dock was made possible through collaborative efforts between the City’s Parks and Recreation Department and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The City successfully secured funding through the CPW’s "Fishing is Fun" grant program, which supported a significant portion of the project costs. The $120,000 grant was partially-matched by the City through in-kind work and a cash contribution. Lamar’s Street Department played a crucial role in the project, providing labor for the construction of handicapped-accessible parking, concrete ramp, and railing. These contributions resulted in an estimated $50,000 in savings. These cost efficiencies allowed the City to invest in a larger dock structure.

The EZDock® was designed by Mountain States Recreation (MSR). MSR President Todd Stone supervised the installation on July 23. Stone stated that this is the largest and most unique dock he has designed.

The final phase of the project includes the installation of a fish cleaning station, which will be completed in the near future.
