15 Years Ago – January 2, 2009

  • Recap 2008: Mike Weirich, President of Eads Consumers Supply, presented Kip Peck a plaque for his 30 years of service, 17 of which were as manager.

25 Years Ago - January 1, 1999

  • Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: I talk football too much, especially when baseball is my favorite game. I don’t think you have ever heard me say anything positive about ice hockey.

40 Years Ago - January 6, 1984

  • Haswell Town Team captured first place in the annual McClave Christmas Basketball Tournament, defeating Pueblo 86-76.
  • Nursing Home News- LaVerne Fischer: Our New Year partly was celebrated a little early, complete with paper hats and horns. We made enough noise so everyone knew of the event.

50 Years Ago - January 4, 1974

  • The news stand price for the Kiowa County Press was fifteen cents.
  • Vehicle registration fees changed. Passenger vehicles would basically the same and carry the green and silver plates. Trucks would be in two classes. Those up to 6,501 pounds would be exempt from ton-mile tax, except those towing a trailer.
