• The Prairie Pines parking lot was packed with cars for ’50-60’s “Sock Hop.” Many came dressed in white shirts, skirts and rolled up jeans.
• Wet weather brought harvest to a sudden stop. Moisture is great for the winter wheat going into winter. But after the hard freeze last week, crops are rapidly moving toward harvest.

• The Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation was incorporated October 1 as a non-profit nongovernmental corporation to assist with the economic development in Kiowa County.

• Peoples Natural Gas Company announced it has entered into negotiations with Greeley Gas Company of Denver to sell its Lamar operations district, including properties in both Kansas and Colorado.

• Plainview marching band students returned from Alamosa with first place trophy by participating in the Adams State College Homecoming Parade.
