- The Huston Solar Race Team’s car, The Sundancer, stopped in Eads to charge its solar battery. The solar panel, mounted on the top and runs the full length of the three wheeled vehicle, is bolted down. The only way for the driver to get out is other team members unbolt the panel and lift it up.
25 Years Ago - August 11, 2000
- While most Colorado’s voters stayed away from the poles for the Primary Elections, more than half of Kiowa County’s Republicans turned out.
40 Years Ago - August 9, 1985
- Through the efforts of Eads City Engineer, Steve Robe, and in cooperation with the Rural Water Association, Eads has obtained a 40-horsepower motor and pump. It has the capacity of pumping 720 gallons per minute.
50 Years Ago - August 8, 1975
- David Anderson, soil scientist for the Soil Conservation Service, will be the survey leader for Kiowa Lincoln and Cheyenne Counties. About 750,000 acres remain to be surveyed.
