- Lana Brown’s fifth grade class help celebrate Arbor Day by planting a snow crabapple tree in front of the Social Service Office.

- Wild Horse Roundup- Curtis Schrimp: We were lucky we didn’t have the amount of snow that Hugo and Limon had. We would have had more if it hadn’t stuck to trees and sides of buildings.

- The U.S. Postal Service is conducting preliminary studies to determine future post space needs in Chivington.
- The Eads Town Board of Trustees is looking to sharpen up their image by adding a logo to its letterhead. Submit your ideas by May 13.
50 Years Ago - April 23, 1976
- Two were arrested in the eastern part of Kiowa County with 105 pounds of suspected marijuana, a quantity of suspected hashish and $6,000 in currency.
100 Years Ago - April 23, 1926
- Haswell Happenings: The Cuckoo Club met at the home of Mrs. W.P. Lawrence. Everyone had an enjoyable time.
- Public Sale: On account of trading my farm for a business in Akron, I will sell at Public Auction at my places eight miles south of Eads eight miles west of Chivington ¾ mile south of the M.P. Railroad
- Cost of the Kiowa County Press $1.50 a year in advance.
- The Bee Line Filling Station stated that they would give oil and gas free of charge…ff you devote to writing out your conception of a suitable name for the station. The selected author will receive TEN gallons of gas and TWO Quarts of oil.
