- On the Museum float we saw Sis Howard washing clothes and Amy Wierich and her children, Emilee and Taylor stoking the pot belly stove.
- Eads Board of Trustees Meeting: 225 yards of concrete had been poured for the foundation of the new water tower, and over 13,000 feet of water line had been laid. The total project calls for 26,000 feet of new line including replacement of 12,000 feet of the main transmission line.

- Kit Carson School District R-1 offers Commercial Driver License testing to private parties and public agency employees. CDL administrator Park Wood is authorized to test any person for Class B or Class C type vehicles.

- More than a dozen volunteers for the 1978 Kiss A Baby Campaign will call on neighbors Mon. 25 through Fri. 29 to encourage them to kiss their babies and ask their help in fight for millions of children who suffer from lung diseases.
- Wise words from Weisbrod: Introducing our newest staff member and saying good-bye to long time staff member Mary Lou Williams. Mary Lou has worked as admission insurance clerk for 7.5 years. She is succeeded in this department by her daughter-in-law Suzanne Williams.

- Mr. & Mrs. Richard W. Haswell of East Greenbush, NY & her brother Ben Gibbs, stopped at Haswell trying to find anyone knowing the origin of the town’s name, & if they could locate any descendants of anyone by the name of Haswell. Two weeks prior a Mr. Haswell of Louisville, KY had visited the town of Haswell for the purpose of establishing where the town got its name.

- Information from the local draft board is that Lloyd Olsen Fox of Towner has volunteered to fill the call for one man to be inducted September 21. October 28 Kiowa County quota is four men.
- Wayne Jones who recently returned to Eads from the San Luis Valley, has leased the Jackson Dairy and began operating it this week.

- A cement street crossing is being put in just north of the post office.
- Mr. Lyness of near Brandon, while helping Hal King fill his silo, got his hand caught in the ensilage cutter, severing it at the wrist. He was taken to Lamar hospital for treatment.
