  • Eads Tree Board and the Town of Eads applied for and received a $1,300 grant from the Colorado Tree Coalition.
  • A surprise detour at the Eads underpass occurred when a truck carrying a large pallet of bananas overturned.

  • The nation’s top National Senior Pro Rodeo Association contestants will gather in Lamar for the Third Annual Senior Pro Rodeo. Contestants are 40 years and older.
  • Eddie “The King” Feigner and his 4-man fast pitch softball team will be here to compete against a team of Eads players.

May 9, 1980

  • A pre-Caucus BBQ, sponsored by the Kiowa County Democrat Party, was held at the Lynn Taylor ranch. Governor Richard Lamm, Congressman Ray Kogovsek, and Representatives Beverly Bledsoe and Forrest Burns were among the distinguished guests.
  • A five-car derailment happen about 17 miles east of Eads, just west of the Sand Creek trestle, resulted in heavy damage but no injuries.

  • Much of the area was engulfed in wet snowstorm netting a half inch moisture and seven inches of snow.
