- Stop & Shop was named Business of the year. The building, now known as Stop & Shop, started out as a Ford, then Chevrolet dealership before Clyde and Bernice Crow converted it to a grocery store in 1960.

- In Eads there are four candidates for ayor, and 12 candidates for the six seats on the Board of Trustees.
- Lynn Taylor was elected Vice President of Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee.
- Sheridan Lake claims to have the smallest “sanctioned” bowling alley in the state of Colorado, perhaps the US. The three-lane alley, a non-profit organization, is kept operating by donations of money and time.

- Seven of Kiowa County young scientists, Dewey Dunlap, Linda Bendorf, John Hulteen, David Ellicott, Barbara Groves, Mary Blakemore, and Larry Anderson, will be competing in State Science Fair.
