  • Colorado State Health confirmed the first two human cases of West Nile virus in Logan and Boulder counties.
  • USDA Update- Rod Johnson: A Federal Judge has granted a Temporary Restraining Order. The order suspends all activity relating to the modification to allow the CPR acres to be used for Critical Feed Use.

July 10, 1998

  • Fred Cook, former Eads Police Chief, filed a petition with Kiowa County Clerk to run for Kiowa County Sheriff.
  • Eads Board of Trustees selected Chad Ray for position of police officer under the direction of Kiowa County Sheriff.

July 15, 1983

  • Mountains of “Prairie Gold” are beginning to pile up throughout Kiowa County as the wheat harvest continues and the grain elevators are full.
  • A number of senior citizens attended the interesting Pioneer Mothers program at the courthouse. Several had written stories of their mothers. Sixty-nine have been completed and others to be sent in. All will be published.

  • According to Betty Fischer, about 150 people came to browse and enjoy relics of yesterday at opening day of the Kiowa County Historical Museum.
