  • A second skunk with rabies was confirmed in Kiowa County. Two additional skunks from the county are being tested.
  • Governor Bill Ritter asked the federal government for drought relief for four southeast Colorado counties.
  • Charlotte Miller and Chandni Merchant won fourth place in the competitive event at the National Future Business Leaders of America Conference.
  • Prairie Pines Assisted Living held its first bowling tournament. Alice Engelhardt took first place in the Wii tournament.

  • Four bottles were found in E. Dau’s car the day after the 4th by the Press reporter. This would certainly have boded ill for Dau had they been anything else but pop bottles.
