Three people were seriously injured Tuesday morning after an SUV crashed through the wall of a Lincoln County government building in Hugo, authorities said.
The Colorado State Patrol responded about 10:19 a.m. to the crash at 103 Third St. in Hugo, where a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek entered the parking lot and went through the north wall of the building.
Investigators said a 75-year-old man driving the SUV lost control while entering the lot and crashed into the structure, striking two employees who were seated at their desks inside.
A 60-year-old woman was airlifted to a Denver-area hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. A 64-year-old man was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries and has since been released. The driver was also taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
The brick building sustained extensive damage, leaving what authorities described as a car-sized hole in the north wall.
The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and possible charges are pending.
