A shout out for Paul, Katie, and Faith, three young entrepreneurs who started their own businesses in Kit Carson. It takes a lot of hard work, determination, faith, and an astute business mind to become successful, plus the support of the community.

High Plains weather can be awesome, wearisome, and interesting with the dry years and the wet years. No one can accurately predict the High Plains weather, to get close one needs to consult the Farmer’s Almanac and make a close observation of the local flora and fauna   Only an optimist is able to meet the challenges offered by the High Plains weather. So far, this year is wet, the creeks have had good flows, the ponds and wallows are full of water, a greater diversity of birds, the explosion of weeds and a lot of fat grasshoppers for the wild turkeys. The wheat harvest is almost done and the row crops have shot up because of the heat. During a sightseeing tour, I was stopped to let a convoy pass by, the convoy was made up with the mechanic’s truck followed by a swather, seven combines with 50-foot headers, one combine with a pickup attachment, two tractors pulling grain carts, three semi grain trucks and another pickup truck. I stopped the last vehicle to ask about the swather. I was told that the swather was used to cut the areas where the weeds have become dominant, after the green stuff has dried, the combine with pickup attachment would finish the field.  My friend in Iowa said leave it to a farmer to find a way to make work easier, to increase the profit margin and expedite weed control.

What is “Woke”? “Woke” is the past tense of wake. “Woke” refers to being aware or informed of political or cultural issues, especially the so-called racial or social injustices, discrimination and violence suffered by minorities at the hands of White people in the Western world.  “Woke” or Cancel Culture is the new self-righteous cult that promotes a moral imperative to fight against White people. The cult is controlled and promoted by Black Lives Matter, Democrat politicians, mainstream media bobbleheads and social media trolls.
