Town of Kit Carson Board of Trustees meeting minutes - April 17, 2023

TOWN OF KIT CARSON

The Town of Kit Carson Trustees met on April 17, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall in Regular Session. Present and answering roll call were Mayor Jeremy Gaynor. Mayor Pro Tem Rick Gekeler. Trustees: Mike Buchanan, Joel Maxcy, Matt Randel, Carl Anderson and Jason Dechant. Staff present: Town Clerk: Christie Johnson.

CALLED TO ORDER 

Mayor Gaynor called the regular board meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

ADDITIONS

Streetlights

Zoning Ordinance

AGENDA 

Mayor Gaynor asked for a motion to approve the agenda with the additions. Joel made a motion to approve the agenda with the additions. Matt seconded it. Motion carried. 

MINUTES 

Mayor Gaynor asked for a motion to approve the minutes from the March 20, 2023, meeting. Mike made a motion to approve the minutes. Rick seconded it. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK

The Board members decided to have a work session on Monday April 24th at 5:30 p.m. to go through the handbook and update it.

EMPLOYEE INSURANCE

We are still waiting for quotes from some insurance companies.

PUBLIC WORKS REPORT

Decorative Solar charging lights were discussed for Main Street.

The Board talked about the lights in the community building.

There were some streetlight  breakers that were popped.

Jeremy said he has one more water meter to do at the new homes.

NEW BUSINESS

The Board said to check on it.

PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE

An interview was held on April 5th to interview Kevin Curry. The Board members decided to hire Kevin as the Public Works Director for the Town. He will start on May 1, 2023.

ADDITIONS

ZONING ORDINANCE

Trustee Joel informed the Board members that the Regional Housing Summit received a grant from the state housing office to help towns with housing issues. They hired Ayers Associates out of Fort Collins to assist each town with updating or improving their housing ordinances.

TREASURES REPORT 

Mayor Gaynor asked for approval of the Treasures Report. Jason made a Motion to approve it. Matt seconded it. Motion carried. 

ADJOURNMENT 

Mayor Gaynor asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mike made a motion to adjourn. Joel seconded it. Motion carried.

With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
