The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc. will begin a resurfacing project along US Highway 350 southwest of La Junta on June 15, with completion expected in early August.

Work will take place between Mile Point 49.7 (County Road 9) and Mile Point 63.7 (County Road 24) and will include resurfacing, rumble strip installation, erosion control improvements, road sign replacement, and striping.

Motorists should expect alternating single-lane closures with traffic directed by flaggers and delays of up to 15 minutes. Daytime work hours run from sunup to sundown, Monday through Friday; weekend work may also occur.

A width restriction of 11 feet will be in effect. Vehicles wider than 11 feet are prohibited through the work zone and should use an alternate route.

Additional impacts include reduced speed limits, shoulder closures, and construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area. Construction schedules may be affected by weather and other unanticipated delays.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, follow all posted signs, and slow down through the work zone to help keep workers and other motorists safe.
