Drought conditions for Kiowa county could be much worse; as areas of NE Colorado, NW and SW Kansas are in the extreme and exceptional drought conditions.
EMERGENCY CRP GRAZING - AFTER PRIMARY NESTING
The Drought Monitor did not change the D2 rating for the eastern portion of Kiowa County; therefore, CRP Emergency grazing is still available in Kiowa County. Producers must submit a request to graze and complete the required paperwork before livestock can be placed on the CRP acreage, failure to meet these requirements will result in compliance issues.
Be reminded, if there is any permanent damage to the CRP acres due to the approval to Emergency grazing, CRP participants will be notified. Therefore, it is the CRP participants responsibility to monitor the grazing.
