USDA Update – October 18, 2022

- NAP APPLICATION DEADLINE - Grass and Alfalfa - December 1, 2022
- LIVESTOCK FORAGE PROGRAM – Applications are being accepted. Deadline to submit signed application – January 30, 2023.

OCTOBER PAYMENTS
- CRP Annual Rental - The 2022 CRP annual rental payments have been certified and signed here in the office and should be deposited into accounts no later than Wednesday, October 19th. If the payments are issued by check those normally have a 5 to 7 day delay from date of issue. Producers who receive payment through other county offices; will need to contact that office directly regarding payments.
- ARC County Wheat payments - Kiowa County producers who selected ARC-county on wheat during the 2021 ARC-PLC election received a payment the first of October. ARC-CO payment rates for area counties on specific crops are listed below. No ARC-CO payments triggered in Cheyenne County. Be reminded, for Price Loss Coverage (PLC) and Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC-CO) the commodity does not have to be planted; producers are enrolling available base acres for that specific commodity from the farm(s).

NAP APPLICATION FOR COVERAGE
Interested producers have until Thursday, December 1, 2022, to request an application for coverage for grass for grazing.
For all coverage levels, the NAP service fee is the lesser of $325 per crop or $825 per producer per county, not to exceed a total of $1,950 for a producer with farming interests in multiple counties
NAP Enhancements for Qualified Producers
Qualified veteran farmers or ranchers are eligible for a service fee waiver and premium reduction if the NAP applicant meets certain eligibility criteria. Beginning, limited resource and targeted underserved farmers or ranchers remain eligible for a waiver of NAP service fees and premium reduction when they file form CCC-860, “Socially Disadvantaged, Limited Resource and Beginning Farmer or Rancher Certification.”
FALL REPORT OF ACREAGE DEADLINE - wheat and triticale
We realize there are many producers in fall harvest; however producers who have their FSA maps to mark and return; we request that you drop those maps off at the office and the staff will work on the acreage report. Operators will be called upon dataloading to sign the 578 acreage reports. Producers have until November 15th, 2022, to report fall planted crop acres intended for harvest or grazing in crop year 2022. To file a crop acreage report, you will need to provide:
- Crop and crop type or variety.
- Intended use of the crop.
- Number of acres of the crop.
- Map with approximate boundaries for the crop.
- Planting date(s).
- Planting pattern, when applicable.
- Producer shares.
- Irrigation practice(s).
- Acreage prevented from planting, when applicable.
- Other information as required.
