Funeral services will be held Monday, January 15, at the First Christian Church in Eads beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Eads Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Breakfast

January 15 – Waffles, sausage link, apple juice, V8, milk, fruit

January 16 – Pancake on a stick, orange juice, V8, milk, fruit

January 17 – Egg patty, toast, grape juice, V8, milk, fruit

January 15 – Ham and beans, cornbread, coleslaw, applesauce, milk, salad and fruit bar

This heart-healthy one-dish meal is made with lean top round beef, lots of vegetables, and a spicy, herb mixture.

Ingredients

1 lb top round beef

1 Tbsp paprika

1½ tsp oregano

½ tsp chili powder

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp black pepper

1/8 tsp red pepper

1/8 tsp dry mustard

8 red-skinned potatoes, halved

3 cups onion, finely chopped

2 cups beef broth

2 large garlic cloves, minced

2 large carrots, peeled and cut into very thin 2½-inch strips

A resolution is a simple resolve to change our lives or some undesired behavior in order to accomplish a goal or improve our lives.

“Insidious” is one of those horror franchises that likes to jump around a lot in its timeline. “The Last Key” takes place second out of the four films. The story follows paranormal problem-solver Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) and her techies Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) as they investigate yet another haunting… but this time, it’s personal! Okay, we never get that cheesy line, but it is personal, and I wish we did.

New Year’s Eve represents a night of celebration and resolutions, but not all Coloradoans stuck to those resolutions while ringing in the new year. So, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and statewide law enforcement agencies increased DUI patrols from December 29 to January 2 to keep impaired drivers off the roads. This enforcement period saw 366 impaired drivers cut their celebrations short with a DUI arrest, an increase from the 279 arrests made during the same enforcement period last year. 

I hope each and every one of you had a very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a great 2018!!  I have been complaining about the lack of moisture and the cold weather -- then I saw what was happening along the eastern seaboard and I thanked my lucky stars that wasn't us. Keep all of those who are dealing with the bad weather in your prayers.
