Tips for Flu-Free, Healthy Travel this Winter

Whether traveling to warmer weather or a snow-filled adventure, make sure flu is not your travel companion.

It’s not too late to get a flu vaccine if you haven’t already done so. It takes about two weeks for the vaccine to provide protection, so get vaccinated well before your trip to reduce your risk of catching and spreading flu.

Hastings College Announces Fall 2017 Dean’s List

Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, has announced the Dean’s List for its fall 2017 semester. For the semester, 397 students from 24 states and three countries were named to the Dean’s List, with 246 students achieving a 4.0 grade point average.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 to 4.0 scale and be registered for full-time coursework.

Colorado students are listed alphabetically by hometown. Students with an asterisk by their name earned a 4.0 grade point average for the semester.

Colorado Grain Stocks Report

All corn stocks in Colorado on December 1, 2017 were 119.70 million bushels, up 12 percent from December 1, 2016, according to the December 1 Agricultural Survey and December Grain Stocks Report conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. All corn stocks stored on farms amounted to 69.00 million bushels, up 11 percent from a year ago. All corn stored off farms amounted to 50.70 million bushels, up 13 percent from a year ago. Off-farm sorghum stocks totaled 6.01 million bushels.

Colorado 2017 Annual Crop Summary Highlights

The 2017 corn for grain crop is estimated at 185.90 million bushels, 16 percent above last year’s production of 160.29 million bushels, according to the December 1 Agricultural Survey conducted by the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. The average yield of 143.0 bushels per acre is 6.0 bushels per acre above the yield realized last year. Area harvested for grain in 2017, at 1.30 million acres, is 130,000 acres above last year.
