Cyber Security – Protect Yourself Against Ransonware

CryptoWall is a nasty threat known as Ransomware.  You can't make this stuff up. Cybercriminals have figured out how to lock us out of our own computers, considering that some of us might pay a pretty penny to be able to get back in.

You might ask how they can keep you from getting to your files. Good question. It's kind of like when you were a kid and a much bigger kid took your lunch box and you knew there was no way you could take it back. It’s the same thing here, but with no teacher to help.

Home Country

By Slim Randles

This Saturday is special to me, because for one day each year, I get to let the years fly behind me and become someone else. Back on this special Saturday in 1973, you see, I was Number 37. I had the Number 37 bib pinned on my parka that early morning at the baseball diamond in Anchorage, and I was just one of many dog mushers starting the very first Iditarod Dogsled Race to Nome.

Photo of the Week

One of our most popular features over the past 16 years - a full-page color photo on the front of the Kiowa County Press showing various impressions of life in Kiowa County. While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.
