Eads Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes – May 8, 2018

The Regular Meeting of the Town of Eads Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Shields, Tuesday May 8, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall. Robin Fox, Town Clerk, took roll call:

                        Mayor – Joe D. Shields- present

Trustees – Present – Justin McLoud, Kathy McCracken, Terry Riley, Dennis Pearson, Lisa Trigilio, and Priscilla Waggoner

The first few days of summer vacation were hard on Billy. He was there, at his appointed post – that being the school crossing – at the right time of morning, but look as he may, he couldn’t find any kids.

He couldn’t find Martin, either. The perennial crossing guard, with his vest, sign and whistle, was home for the summer. So were the kids. School was out.

Billy, being the official town dog since Sally passed away on Doc’s porch, decided on the fourth day of no kids that he might as well do something else.

  • State and local health department laboratories have started testing dead birds, mosquitoes and horses for West Nile Virus.
  • Severe hail cut two wide swaths through the county. The hardest hit area is from north of Hwy 96 between Sheridan Lake and Towner and east of Hwy 385 south to the Prowers County line. The hailed covers approximately 220 square miles (140,000 acres).

Deadline July 20 for State Fair Fine Arts Entries

Artists throughout Colorado are busy preparing their artwork for the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition. The popular and prestigious part of the annual event showcases original artwork by Colorado residents. 

All artwork chosen for the exhibition will be on display in the Fine Arts Building during the entire length of the Fair. Two divisions for artwork submission are being offered: Emerging Artist and Professional.

Because so many kids today are over-scheduled, over-screened and over-protected – and spending as little as 4-7 minutes outside each day – the Generation Wild campaign is a movement to change this dynamic by inspiring kids (and moms) to get outside more often, letting their imaginations and curiosity run wild.
