May 12 is Child Care Provider Appreciation Day
Child care organizations nationwide have joined together to declare Friday, May12, to be Provider Appreciation Day to recognize family child care providers and early education teachers in preschools/centers and after school programs. It gives parents, grandparents and employers an opportunity to recognize and commend the dedication to children that child care providers demonstrate every day.
Postal Employee Pleads Guilty After Faking Cancer to Work from Home
Caroline Zarate Boyle, 59, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a U.S. Postal Service employee, pled guilty Friday to presenting a forged writing to the United States with the intent to defraud after telling her employer that she had cancer to work from home and claim hundreds of hours of sick leave.
The guilty plea occurred before U.S. District Court Judge Raymond P. Moore.
Boyle was first charged March 3, 2017. She was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver two weeks later. She is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Moore in July.

Hastings College Students, Faculty Recognized
During Hastings College’s day-long Celebration of Excellence April 25, students and faculty were recognized for their achievements at the Honors Convocation.
The Don and Nancy Seaton Faculty Achievement Award was given to Dr. Amy Morris, professor of biology, while Annette Vargas, assistant professor of theatre, received the Vondrak Outstanding Advisor Award.
LCC’s Hicks and Klassen Place at Casper College Rodeo
Lopes Rodeo returns from weekend competition at Casper College with two top ten finishers, Kadyn Hicks and Jalisa Klassen.
Minnick, Boero Lead LCC Golf Team to 4th Place
The Lamar Community College men's golf team finished in fourth place this past weekend in Region IX play hosted by Eastern Wyoming College.
The Lopes totaled a two-day score of 637, led by Jeremy Minnick and Facundo Boero.
Wollert Places in 4-H Program

A freshman at Wiley High School and Paw Pals 4-H club member, Wyatt Wollert, competed in the 2017 National Western Stock Show Catch-A-Calf program. This program was open to 4-H members ages twelve through nineteen.
