Cheri Hopkins is home and on the mend after undergoing surgery in Denver recently. Hope you continue to improve Cheri.

On Friday evening, the Plainview Junior High and High School students enjoyed pizza and movie night at the school.
The Plainview Knowledge Bowl teams traveled to Vilas, CO on Friday to compete. Both teams placed 4th in their divisions. Congratulations!

Signs unlawful & unsafe
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is reminding supporters of candidates and issues that campaign signs are not permitted in the state’s right-of-way. In addition, placing real estate or other types of signs in state right of way is illegal.
A man sustained minor injuries after being attacked by a black bear near Red Hill in South Park. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials said the attack occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Friday evening.
The man, who was scouting for a hunting trip, was walking near a stream when he encountered a bear. The bear attacked and knocked him to the ground. The man fought off the attack and the bear ran away.
State health department offers resources to help prevent lead poisoning
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recommends all low-income children in Colorado be tested for lead at 12 months and 24 months of age. Colorado’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program identifies approximately 200 children per year with confirmed elevated blood lead levels.
Before winter weather arrives in earnest, it is highly recommended that you prepare your vehicle for winter travel.
A well-equipped vehicle has adequate tires, tire chains, tow rope, sand or cat litter for traction, shovel, tool kit, windshield scraper and brush, battery cables, first aid kit, flashlight, extra batteries, blankets or sleeping bags, extra clothing, candles, water‑proof matches, jug of water, high calorie packaged food for quick energy, and an empty can to melt snow for drinking.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife will award $600,000 to eight shooting and archery ranges across Colorado through the agency's Shooting and Range Development Grant Program (SRDG). The funds will go toward developing new places to shoot and upgrading existing ranges across the state.
Wednesday, October 12, nearly 40 high school freshmen representing three State FFA Districts from across the state came to the Lamar Community College campus to participate in a regional Creed Speaking competition.
