November is Colorado Consumer Protection Month! What is that you ask?  Colorado Consumer Protection Month is a statewide initiative to increase public knowledge of consumer fraud issues, including raising awareness of current scams and financial abuses affecting Coloradans.

The Pueblo Police Department, the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the FBI Denver Division, all partners of the Southern Colorado Safe Streets Task Force, announced the seizure of historic amounts of heroin from two homes and a business located in Pueblo. Following the seizure, the U.S. Attorney’s Office obtained grand jury indictments charging five people with distribution of drug charges. Four of the five were also charged with federal firearms violations. All five are in federal custody with charges pending.

Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D) and Cory Gardner (R), along with a bipartisan group of nearly 40 senators, today sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officials urging them to affirm their commitment to provide affordable and reliable broadband for consumers in the hardest to reach communities across rural America.

Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) began accepting applications for its 2017/2018 season Wednesday. 

LEAP provides cash assistance to help Coloradans pay a portion of their home heating costs during the winter months. The program pays the highest benefits to those with the highest heating bills and the lowest incomes by family size. LEAP is 100 percent federally funded and administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS)
