Many Colorado farmers are implementing some of the latest-and-greatest production methods, aimed at improving efficiency on their farms, protecting natural resources, and enhancing air and water quality. Now we want to honor the producers taking these efforts to new heights.

While a limited number of copies continue to be printed and distributed each week at Kiowa Healthmart, COOP C-Store in Eads, Haswell Propane, and Thunderbird Petroleum, we wanted to bring this feature to our online readers as well.

The first full week of November has been relatively seismically active in Colorado, with four earthquakes recorded within the state, and one just over the southern border in New Mexico.

The New Mexico quake, centered west of Raton, occurred late Saturday night and measured 3.1 on the Richter Scale. The area is about 90 miles south of Pueblo.

We want to thank everyone who called, sent cards and prayers to our family after the loss of our mother. We especially would like to thank the United Methodist Women who prepared a wonderful meal.  We will miss her terribly but it is comforting to know that she is back in Eads with so many friends.

Samuel Atchison “Sam” Jones, 78, of Pueblo died Sunday Oct. 16, 2016, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 19, 1938  in Lamar to Hugh and Edith (Waggoner) Jones.

Anna Marie Garvin, affectionately known as Marie was born on November 27, 1921 in Wakeeney, Kansas to Minnie and Charles Garvin. Marie had 1 brother and 2 sisters. Marie grew up on a farm south of Wakeeney. Marie loved her horses, which she rode to school through the 8th grade.

• Weisbrod Hospital Auxiliary is planning their annual Fall Bazaar for Saturday, November 19th. 

• Fanny Murdock Giving Trees, tradition started years ago, will be put up around the county. Trees will be located at the Towner Senior Center, the Sheridan Lake Post Office, Eads, Post Office and the Kiowa County National Bank in Eads
